A Beautiful Sight Children’s Boutique

Guided by our love of our children and the desire to bring about good in this world for their future, my co-owner and I developed A Beautiful Sight, LLC with the overall goal of creating a more inclusive shopping experience for the blind community.

The logo is designed to represent how something as ordinary as a caterpillar—whose eye structure is so simplistic that it can only see contrasting elements, not actual forms—does the extraordinary by learning to find food and grow into one of the most beautiful of creatures despite its difficulty seeing. Along with the fact that at its most basic structure—being circular by nature—it is the perfect nod to braille. Additionally, the head represents my co-owner’s daughter, Madelynn, whom is THE reason all of this began. The other three circles form the rest of the caterpillar’s body and represent my three boys.

Madelynn was diagnosed at two-months-old with a rare, genetic disease that caused her to be blind. Through this diagnosis and her prognosis, her mother and father have learned so much in such a short amount of time about the blind community. All of their knowledge has rubbed off on me and our friends, helping us understand a little more about blindness and the full spectrum of what that means. We hope to not only develop an easier shopping process for children and parents like Madelynn, but also aim to create awareness of what it can mean to be blind as blindness is never absolute.
